I was so excited to see Chaumont open here in Beverly Hills. The food is excellent, the pastries are perfect, the owners are wonderful, and the service is grand. It's disappointing to see reviews on here where some are picking the place apart. I doubt that whatever you may do in your career or personal life is not perfect. There's nothing negative to say about Chaumont. It's an amazing cafe with delectable food, drinks, and pastries.

I am amazed by this place! They made the best cake ever for my friend birthday ! It was chocolate with hazelnuts! Yummy!

Wow! What a great new authentic French Pastry shop just opened up in BH. The pastries are fresh and great. We even met the Pastry chef who is here from france. They also have breafast and lunch as well. I will deff be back real soon. They freshly baked bread is also awesome and is made fresh everyday on site. Eric

My girlfriend and I found this place by accident, and boy were we impressed! She ordered a latte and I got an earl grey tea with a chocolate croissant. I was pleased to learn that all of their pastries are made fresh every morning from scratch (never from frozen) and we really tasted the difference! Anyway, ill stop trying to sound like a commercial, but one more important fact is that they serve breakfast and lunch! I'm sitting here now with probably the most delicious breakfast sandwich I've ever had.. Anyways, have a great day and definitely keep this place in mind to check it out when you're in the area!

Came here for brunch. Great service. The croissants are the best I could find so far in la! Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They ran out of them so quickly I had to wait for the next batch to come out. The food here is a little overpriced though. The truffle mushroom tartine was good but was it worth $13? Probably not. I'd come back for the croissants if I was in the neighborhood again!

Well this was a nice start to my morning.... some coffee and a stick of butter...Overpriced and waaaayyy too sugary and buttery-especially the almond crossaint. You might want to bring your own napkins for all the butter that will be dripping down your face from these delightful pastries. Looks like a little cute cafe in Paris, but if you are someone who lives a healthy lifestyle of eating right and working out, you might not want to start your morning off biting into a stick of butter with mediocre coffee to wash it down. ICK!

FU***G AMAZING EXCUSE MY FRENCH LOL! no really who needs portos with this place in Beverly hills. The prices are decent and worth every penny. Quality the deserts had me.. definitely telling everyone about this spot. It's also a good place to pick up pastries for events or just business associates, they make for wonderful gifts.

I could literally eat at Chaumont every day, from the bread, the salad, the sandwiches to the pastries, croissants and treats...I love everything in that place.

Wow... one of the best French dessert places I've had in the US. Right up there with chantilly patisserie for japanese and Ferrara for italian. I can't say enough good things about this place. Highly highly recommended and go here after shopping at Rodeo.

Tried this cafe and bakery with my friend yesterday and we weren't disappointed. The place isn't too big but feels and looks spacious. The decor was tastefully done. Staff were attentive and friendly and so was the owners, The food was great. My friend had the roast beef sandwich and I had the turkey and brie. The sandwiches came with some sort of a potato gratin which was a nice accompaniment to the sandwiches. The flavored ice tea that I had was nice. Since we were eating a little later than usual, I was hungry so I got the croissant and it was great. The croissant was flaky and tasty. For some reason the place reminded me of Bottega Louie only smaller and less chaotic. It was probably the decor and materials used in building the cafe. There was not that many seating area but it was plenty...at least for now since they have just opened.

Ever since returning from Paris, and having the croissants at Pierre Hermé there I have been trying to find something similar to the glory of the flakiness, and delicacy I experienced there. So upon hearing about Chaumont, an actual French bakery here in LA, and having a severe croissant craving I had to stop in. While, it's not exactly the same (I am comparing croissants to the best in the world presumably), it's pretty damn close. Way closer than anything else I've had in LA. The croissants actually have that delicate texture, a cool center, they have LAYERS, and don't smoosh together like so many American croissants. They are crisp all the way through, and the layers are thin enough that a slight breeze blew one of my precious ones off as I was walking back to my car. This, ladies and gents, is what you are looking for from a croissant: simplicity taken to new heights. The shop is otherwise clean, and quite reminiscent of Paris cafes. So I think I will agree with Ludo Lefebvre in saying this is the place to get your most authentic French croissants in LA at the moment, or at least it's the only place in Beverly Hills. To compare, I would say the croissants here rank far above local favorites in the area such as Susina, Sweet Lady Jane, Sycamore Kitchen, Urth Caffe, Champagne, etc... None of these places even approaches Chaumont.

I had walked by this place many times, but eager to resist the temptation of the numerous pastries in the window, I always skipped it on my lunch break. Then I heard about the Black cod Banh Mi. I decided to try the sandwich and was absolutely amazed! The cod was cooked perfectly - beautiful flaky texture, not fishy at all. The mint and cucumbers were refreshing. The only, very slight negative was a bit too much mayonnaise, but I will just request less next time.

Most amazing flaky croissants ever tasted! Been to france and italy but it doesnt even measure up to these!!

I first found this place because I follow Ludo on twitter and he said it was the best croissants he's had in LA. Naturally, being a croissant lover, I had to stop by. The croissants are indeed...awesome. The breakfast sandwich? Awesome. The pastries and little delectables behind the counter? Awesome (especially the tarts. yowza!) The only thing I didn't really like was the Mediterranean eggs. It simply wasn't my thing. Too runny and the tomato sauce was just weird. I'd go all the time if not for the fact that I'm concerned about my waist-line. I hope they're a fixture in Beverly Hills for years to come.

Croissants are flaky, buttery, and delicious-all that a croissant should be! Had the scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese which were on point. The restaurant is very cute, love the simple decor inside. Staff was helpful. I wanted to come back for more before we left but they are closed Sundays-Boo!

Went in noon and eyeing an almost emptied pastry display. Good almond croissant with flaky crust and toasted almond. Bad St Honore, had the caramel, not nearly close to the Lauduree in Paris, the crust was hard and it tasted like was left out overnight.

I was struggled for giving four or five star, I think four and a half is right for here. I love the pastries at there. They looked cute and tasty. The croissants and baguette are great and I like the half size baguette ( Full size is too big for me and I don't like to store it at home for a long time, I want to get fresh one everyday). The service is good at here. I am a crazy foodie and I've tried most of the famous bakeries in LA and there is among the top. Great as the reviews said and is better than Bouchon Bakery near it. ( I also like the Bread Lounge in downtown, but I don't know which is better cause I didn't get the same thing from both place at the same time). Anyway, it's a good place to get some french pastries. I arrived at noon and I saw that there're already something sold out and some kinds not left much. So arrive early if you want the full selections. The service is also good at here. There are some seats inside but not many. The sandwiches looks good, also have something to drink. I want to try more things the next time. Parking is easy, there is a public parking lot for two hours free across the street about a block away if you can't find street parking. (By the way, want to say something for the high-level gourmet, although here is among the best in LA, it still can't compare to the good ones in Europe or Asia especially in France. But if you've never been to those places before, ignore this point. )

I really enjoy stopping by Chaumont for brunch, croissants & the ambiance. Their regular, almond and chocolate croissants are a bit pricey but all very delicious. I really like their french bread too. But, I'd have to say you can definitely pass on the eclairs.

  • Cat T.

I come here mainly for the best almond croissants in LA...so far. I've searched high and low for the best almond croissants, and finally found them here. Their other pastries are great. Their sandwiches and beverages, however, are decent. But, service is fast and friendly. The four stars are mainly for the pastries!

  • Megan C.

The food here quite delightful. When I first entered, I found everything to be so cute! I love how fancy and dainty everything is, and the atmosphere fits right with the food. The customer service is excellent as well. Fredrick (I hope I spelled it right) was very informative and sweet.

Four stars for being charming and frenchy, but good lord is this place loud. There must be something going on with the high ceilings and the silverware and no windows or I don't know what. It is loud. Not necessarily a bad thing....

I stopped at Chaumont this morning to get a cafe latte and it was delicious! They make it perfectly hot and the right amount of milk. The owners are delightful. I also ordered a cappuccino, croissant and a raisin bread and I was in heaven! Can't wait to go back I heard they have amazing sandwiches.

Eclairs are good but what was really good was the breakfast sandwich, and I replaced the baguette with croissant and it was to die for.

Honestly the best almond croissant I have ever had!! I was doing some work in Beverly Hills and had a quick moment to grab a bite to eat, so I ran into the shop picked out an amazing looking croissant and walked out. I don't know if it was because I was hungry or what, but that flaky pastry dough with the almond filling was delicious!!!!!!! I have honestly eaten my fair share of croissants, having traveled around Europe and just by being a foodie in general and this was the real deal. It was a little pricey but I mean I was in Beverly Hills that was the cheapest snack I was going to get around there.

The Best latte in town! Beautiful place, neat display, delicious cakes, buttery pastries, very good sandwiches and salads, clean bathroom. What else can I say? Okay, well it is pretty pricey. But giving the fact it is located in Beverly Hills with nearby convenient parking structure. Because it's pretty pricey, it's not my everyday bakery, but it is good for dates, a nice place to take your family and friends for a relaxed Beverly Hill eating experience.

    * FAVORITE BAKERY for desserts * yes, favorite in socal. it reminds me of fleur de cocoa back home in norcal (los gatos, ca). I'M OFFICIALLY ADDICTED to CHAUMONT. =D they've only been open for three months. i have been there FOUR times. sure, you would think that i would go three times per week if i were truly addicted but considering how far i live and how rarely i have been to the westside, it's a lot. every time i have visited, i find a new favorite. finally tried their sandwiches and salads. ordered the smoked turkey and brie sandwich. the baguette was just perfect -- chewy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. tasted just like the bread from paris only we don't have to travel all that way. the owner told us that the baker is an expert with flour. the french flour is different from the US flour. they actually had to fly the US flour back to france to experiment with the properties of it. then when the amounts and final products are to satisfaction, they start baking it. (btw, the pastry chef has worked at the laduree in paris prior) mediterranean salad was pleasing but just didn't compare to the sandwiches and the desserts. the opera cake is a layered chocolate cake that was very rich. also had a strawberry mousse cake with almond biscuit layers. i enjoyed it immensely. the price tag is steep so i will have to try the desserts one at a time. but of course i savored my coffee eclair!! this is my must-have. they didn't have any caramel religiouse today. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3rd trip: on this recent trip, i had a favorite, the coffee eclair. the filling has a deep coffee flavor...perfect with some coffee. decided to try a new dessert... WOW, this one was to die for... the caramel religiouse. it's the dessert that looks like a stacked cream puff. there is one on top, and a bigger one for the base. it was a thick caramel cream in the middle. the flavoring was perfect, as usual. the pastry shell was delicate and tasty. i loved it so much after finishing it that i bought another one to eat. would have had 5 of them, but stopped myself...haha.. later, we were driving through beverly hills and saw bouchon. they had the same caramel double puff dessert as chaumont! so i bought it for comparison (as well as a chocolate eclair). (p.s. the bottega louie eclairs taste horrible...they are all sugar) our conclusion is that chaumont's double puff caramel dessert was far superior to bouchon's. the one from bouchon was a salted caramel. it was just like vanilla cream from beard papas with a little layer of salted caramel on top. chaumont's eclair was better as well in terms of the pastry and the cream. bouchon likes to add gold glitter and flakes on their desserts which i liked but what matters to me more is the taste. so there you have it. MY FAVORITE DESSERT BAKERY. can't wait to try other desserts!!! =D until next time, i will have to dream about chaumont... =) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2nd trip: went back cuz i was in the area running an errand. this time, i tried the almond croissant and a chocolate croissant. loved the almond croissant. it was chewy, flakey and had a lot of almond filling. the sliced almonds and powdered sugar made it more enjoyable also. two hours later, i ate the chocolate croissant which was flakey, crispy. while it was good, it didn't have as much chocolate as i would have liked. was tempted to get another coffee eclair and try everything else!! but i had to exercise self-control. on another note, chaumont seems to be full of real french. several customers on the occasions that i visited all spoke french to the sweet young owners. i would have considered ordering lunch except that i was parked in 20 min parking. so i chose to buy croissants instead. * If I did do Yelp Check-Ins regularly, I would be the top check-in here. hahaha!! if you count the times my friends go there to bring me Chaumont, it would be even more times...

Loved it here! Totally reminded me of being in a Parisian bakery! As I was looking at the pastries I got reminded of being in Paris. It was so nice :) I had an iced mocha latte and a pear tart. Both were great! Not too sweet and so delicious. I plan on going back to try their other yummy pastries

After trying to check in a couples of times, but being closed on Sundays, I finally had a chance to try this new French cafe. Since, my husband brought me a brioche, I am merely rating this place on taste. The brioche was rather large, but was lackluster. There was not an ounce of the buttery delicacy I compare my brioches to that of La Duree's brioches in Paris. I might try some other pastries, but based on my first impression, I will not keep my hopes up.

Stopped in here for a coffee and croissant one morning and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff. A friend had told me many months ago the staff was not pleasant, but today the new boys were smiling and efficient. My daughter and I will be coming back here for sure. The coffee is just as fabulous as it is in New York and the pastries are on par with European quality. Edgar is the best cashier in Beverly Hills!

Imagine that you've gone on vacation and entered a typical Parisian bakery yet, all alone, you've done nothing but walked (or drove) down the corner, on Beverly Blvd, and stepped into Chaumont. Beautifully displayed pastries, fresh new bread, even their breakfast menu evokes a sense of bitter disappointment as they list bread and jam as an official French breakfast. True to Parisian culture, this place delivers on what you would typically expect to find in a Parisian pâtisseries or boulangeries. 5/5 for decor. Okay, now down to business - the food! Cappuccino - aromatic, slightly bitter but smooth going down, leaving a lingering feeling. Now, considering how much coffee I drink and all the "artisan" coffee that I've shelled out for, I consider myself a bit of a coffee snob.... this cup far exceeded my expectation. I expect a lot from my cup of Joe and this place delivers; surprisingly. 5/5 stars Banh Mi- NOT even close. Beef was shredded??? Tasted like a White man making a Vietnamese sandwich and trying to put a twist on it, but didn't really "get it"..... not the real deal, not even close. A bit flavorless even....But I suppose this IS a French bakery so I can't hate. Bread was good. 3/5 stars. Breakfast sandwich- Faced with a crunchy toast and eggs perfectly cooked, runny, and coated my tongue with opulent gold cholesterol. Hmmmmm, I can still sense the warming comfort brewing in my belly as I took my first bite. 5/5 Flour-less chocolate cake- dense, rich, chocolatey...but after about two bites, it was too much. 3.5/5. Mille-feuille- surprisingly thick crust and extremely rich creme. Not the airy chantilly cream I expected as I cracked down on the pastry shell. Have I had better? Yes. But is it passable? Sure. 3/5

I am absoulty in LOVE with this place... I heard about Chaumont through the grapevine and I'm so glad that I stopped in. The owners are from France originally I believe. Really sweet people. I also met the amazing French pastry chef! He's so sweet and obviously a very talented pastry chef! He's from France and has the cutest French accent! I tried the rase berry macaroon and the chocolate eclair! HEAVEN I tell you! This is heaven!! I would def recommend this place for your sweet tooth craving! Located in Beverly Hills with nice shops within walking distant. You surely will not be disappointed!

Hidden near the quiet north end of S. Beverly Drive is this little honest bakery cafe. Amazing cafe lattes and generous servings of good-quality hot chocolate. Simple dishes like eggs and beef bacon for breakfast and sandwiches for lunch. The pastries are the star, of course. Best flourless chocolate cake I've ever had...a thin crumbly crust with the silkiest, most chocolatey interior. Good thing they only come in small portions. Very dangerous dessert!

I tried the tarte tropezienne and the little cream cheese croissant. Both were just okay but expensive. The tarte costed $6.50 each. One thing I didn't like - the server with gloves touched the pastries and made change using the same gloves. Why wear the gloves? Who knows what the server does in the back with those gloves on?

They were closed today?!!! POUR KWAHHHHH??!!! Sign says because of President's Day, for which no one else but the lazy people at the DMV actually close and celebrate. You see right there is true French authenticity, every holiday is sacrosanct. Not to be THAT person who likes to rub it in to everyone that they've been to Europe and therefore AmeriKKKA sucks. But I have been to Paris--not the one in Texas, the one in France. More than once, in fact, twice. Or as they say a la française, "deux fois". The croissant isn't like 'the one you get in Paris'. That's an idiotic statement. I should know, because, like I said before, I have been in Paris deux fois. There's about as many kinds of croissants in P-town (I can call it that because I have been there, twice) as there are French cheeses and the few common thread these viennoiseries have is that they are smaller, flakier, browner exteriors, and saltier (au contraire to the squat yeasty cow turds that Starbucks call 'croissants'). The croissant Chaumont serves is definitely of the Parisian sorts, or more specifically, nothing that you'd find in LA except maybe the ones the Bouchon chefs make for themselves but somehow don't make for the ones they sell in their bakery. I didn't come here though for the croissant, and it's not why I'm going to keep coming back. Je suis revenu for the tarte fine pear. People who make fruit tarts tend to make the pastry and fruit as two separate entities, and the pastry being nothing more than a paper plate for the fruit. Chaumont though makes them as one. When you bite into it, you taste tartefinepear rather than tarte fine, pear. The pear is just the right texture and has that mild coarseness when you bite into it. There's a limited selection of pastries actually, but they do have a restaurant menu that expands the food offering. I do like to see them add about 4-6 pastries behind the shelf. The baguettes should be out in front, not tucked away behind the register. The baguettes out in front would help promote that appetite-inducing bakery smell.

  • Steven T.

Chaumont's pastries must be made in heaven and delivered to Beverly Hills fresh, daily. The decor is like minimalist Versailles, and the service is very friendly. Check it out before it gets super busy!

My new Saturday morning ritual is running over to Chaumont to grab some pain au chocolate, croissants, (maybe an éclair or two!) and a delicious chocolat chaud to go! The owner and staff are always cheerful and welcoming. It is an immaculate shop and very cozy. I only wish they had kouign amman, but I can survive without ;) Chaumont, j'adore!

Came here with a friend yesterday after seeing IG photos from Chef Ludo. Love the simplicity of the actual space. White walls, simple and easy. We ordered lunch: Salmon sandwich, Tuna and the banh mi. My salmon sandwich was tasty, the baguette= AMAZING. The only complaint we had was the lack of salt/seasoning in the sandwiches. Also, no pepper on the table- only salt! The croissant was also amazing. I reccommend coming at 6:30am when the pastries and bread is fresh!

They offer different assortments of sweets daily....all unique and very pretty, but not the BEST I've ever had. Parking is a bit of a pain, and they don't serve iced coffee. Boo : ( I got a giggle out of the previous yelper's comments.... but honestly, the whole place isn't all that romantic, and I don't think the dining experience or desserts alone should obligate a date into giving anyone "dessert "afterward. Hold on, nobody should ever be "obligated" into giving "dessert." Anywho, it's an ok place for sweet treats if you're in the mood for a fruit-tart or croissant, I surely wouldn't refuse to go here again, but I wouldn't go way out of my way. . . I'd maybe even take a friend here (with no strings attached) - but I'm a nice guy. The search for the perfect Patisserie continues.

Small, Quaint, simple menu. I like supporting local businesses and have ordered delivery lunch from here quite a few times, never disappointed. The avocado feta toast, is delicious and plentiful / generous serving. The kale and lemon and cesar salad are also delicious and co workers enjoy their breakfast sandwiches.

I think my wife & I have found our new favorite french cafe!! The service and feel is like a cafe straight out of Paris! Everything inside is very white and modern. We were just driving by and had to stop in. The parking situation on this street is really bad. The fresh chocolate crossiants and and pastries are really that much better then other cafe's and bakeries in LA. The choice of teas and hot drinks are endless. We didn't get a chance to try the breakfast but the menu looks and smells very tasty!!

The croissant is pretty good here. Flaky and a little sweet. Nice. The chocolate croissant could use a bit more chocolate. But, the cakes weren't very good. They look beautiful but are too sweet and one note. No subtlety in flavor. Wouldn't go back for the cakes....

I may have tried their croissant on an off day because i wasn't blown away by it, but everything else I tried was delicious. Cute little space at north end of Beverly Blvd with a few indoor tables. The owner and his wife are so cute and friendy and have you seen the pastry chef? Um...I would go back just to look at him some more. I ordered a salad (very good) which came witha piece of their baguette (no butter needed since every bite was buttery, salty and chewy) and 3 kinds of croissants - plain/chocolate/amond&chocolate. Charming place!

Easter Sunday....CLOSED ... any bakery that is closed on Sunday would have a huge boycott in France. But to have a bakery closed on Easter Sunday is nuts! Tried before the Pain Au Chocolat, it is good, not the best but good. Bread is fresh but a bit bland. So the 1 star is mainly for being inconvenient, being closed on Sunday. It is therefore impossible to get fresh baked baguette in Beverly Hills on a Sunday morning. Bouchon does not have them till 10.30 am and Le Pain Quotidien is par baked from their headquarters. Not trying to be difficult or hard to please but Chaumont is not even open...pathetic. (see the pics)

The Turkey and Brie sandwhich is amazing! The desserts are ok. I was expecting to be "WOW", but was just "eh". I did have the raisin croissant and the chocolate croissant. They are delicious. It 's a good place to go, but I wasn't amazed by service, location or pastries.

Wonderful neighborhood French Bakery & Cafe! Delicious and freshly-made pastries and breakfast treats every morning. Their varieties of croissants are the best I've ever had! The owners are the sweetest people you'll ever meet and provide excellent customer service. Their catering is excellent, they delivered and setup everything on time, were early, flexible with my order, accommodating, and great to work with, highly recommend this little treasure.

I finally tried on Saturday this new french bakery on Beverly Dr that so many of my friends recommended me and I loved it! Chaumont has a great selection of delicious and savory french pastries, fruit tarts, croissants, brioches, pains aux raisins, brioches, apple turnovers, eclairs and cakes... I bought a Fraisier (strawberry cake) for 6 (though I think 8 people could have shared it) and it was simply to die for! They have an appetizing menu with salads, eggs/omelets and sandwiches and it seems a great place to go to for breakfast or lunch as it is so close to the Rodeo drive/Beverly drive shopping area. They also open very early (6:30am) which is great when you want to purchase fresh breads and pastries for breakfast. Beautiful decor, very polite staff and courteous service. I think I am going to become a regular and I will definitively be back soon!

This place does baked eggs and chouquettes well. A very clean, beautiful bakery cafe with a friendly and professional staff. I plan on returning to explore their menu. Next time, I'm hoping it'll be to dine-in instead of ordering take-out.

Awesome service and machiato!!! The guy behind the counter made sure I knew what was all included and not included in a machiato before I even paid for it, which I appreciated. And I love that there wasn't an extra cost for the syrup flavor.

Come on! Croissants do not get better than this. The most tender and airy I've ever had. The little cakes are delightful as well, not super sweet. Beware, very pricey. Like $7-$8 for a small cake. But hey, you're in Beverly Hills, what do you expect? The staff is very friendy...and french! Go figure. So if you need practice with pronunciation with these french pastries they are helpful..and patient!

Wow, although you have to get ready to pull out your (nice) pocketbook, this place is delicious. Understated in decor, but with definite beauty Charmount delivers as a patisserie. It's like a refined cafe I would say... I was fortunate to have a friend suggest this place as a breakfast venue for our ladies morning today. They had different types of bread as their meal, but I figured I should try a mix. The meal was huge in comparison to my friends. I ordered a breakfast tea latte (as usual in any breakfast situation), a tomato/mozzarella di buffula salad and a pastry. (I have already forgotten the name, as it is in French). The tea was good, but the latte part was lackluster. It was not frothy, just warm milk in my tea...with the tea bag in it as I do not like. *I still cannot find a better tea latte than Urth, they will always be my go to place, but I digress.* The salad was good. There was a pesto drizzle along the plate which was the perfect amount of basil flavour for the salad. The balsamic glaze that they used was thick and tasty. The tomatoes were ok, nothing of incredible flavor but the mozzarell was thick and yummy. As for the dessert, it was a raspberry puff atop a puff pastry filled with an eclair type cream... then to add a bit of craziness there is this little squeezy thing (totally technical terms I am giving you right?) that you squeeze your own raspberry goo in with. It's already sticking in the bun thing and so you don't even have to play doctor to figure out where the vein is. YUM.... it's ridiculously rich and absolutely incredible. I don't want to offend them but it took me back to Boo Berry cereal as an 80s kid, but much better tasting and more beautiful to look at. (i liked boo berry cereal, btw) My stomach smiled at it and it smiled back. Seriously, this is definitely a place to have a dessert at, (not really a meal place in my opinion)... even if you eat somewhere else. Much fancier than Provence and other places... and really belongs in this area. I may not end up here often, but when I do I can state for a fact that it will include a sweet indulgence. (as a sidenote for those of the thrifty sort.... my tea, salad and dessert came to $19.80. so make sure if you bring a date here that she is going to give you dessert after, because this is not a place to take your "friend".. I would not buy my friend a bite sized $8 dessert)

My husband and I came here for breakfast and it was amazing. I had the french toast which was light and fluffy without being heavy at all, delicious. My husband had the eggs benedict with salmon and also enjoyed his. We shared the lemony kale salad and it was incredible, one of the best salads I've ever had. It was such a unique flavor and texture combination and couldn't have tasted better. The orange juice was fresh squeezed, my favorite! The coffee was tasty too. Service was friendly and professional. Overall fantastic experience. I didn't get a chance to taste the pastries like I had planned but they looked beautiful and left me craving one for next time.

I was freezing last night (what has happened to LA by the way? This is California, not Alaska!), and looking desperately for coffee. Came across Chaumont on Yelp and went in. Great coffee and the chocolate crossiants was amazing. Loved it.

I absolutely love CHAUMONT! You can taste the freshness of having been baked that morning. My favorite is the tropezienne which has lots of vanilla flavor - you can even see the vanilla bean seeds. It's not the traditional tropezienne but it's great in its own right. Plus it's difficult to find it anywhere in LA. Have you ever been disappointed when something doesn't taste as good as it looks? Well, you won't be disappointed at Chaumont. Can't speak to the breakfast or lunch menu. But with this selection of baked goods and pastries, I doubt I ever will.

Everything said below is true. Best croissants in L A. What a find. Also the best fresh lemonade in LA

This place is a gem. The cinnamon twist and the chocolate almond croissant are absolutely delicious! Plus the French worker there is super sweet and helpful!

Paris j'taime! The baquette sandwiches are divine. Nothing like a banh-mi made with baquette so fresh it's as light as air. Good coffee too. Everything here will please the palette. The pastries are so yummy and absolutely Parisian you forget you're in the wild west. This is a big asset to the neighborhood.

Best patisserie boulangerie in LA. I didn't think I could find French bread as good as the one I used to get back in Japan, but I think I've found it. Their fresh bread is fresh daily and has just the right amount of hardness on the outside. Their pastries are all excellent with just the right amount of sugar.

I don't care too much for sweets but the pastries at Chaumont are delicious! I also have their tuna sandwich as much as I can.

I had the Caesar salad today for lunch and I have to say it is the best one I've ever had. Slices and sprinkles of real aged Swiss cheese. The Romaine lettuce was fresh and the dressing was amazing. I will definitely eat here again.

About 3.5 for me...but it's the taste of the food that will bring me back (and bumps up my review). In ideal, it's not that different from Champagne down the street, but the follow through at Chaumont is stronger. Sandwiches were excellent as were the drinks. What Champagne might have in quantity, the quality at Chaumont is stronger as well. It's clear they take pride in their deserts...not only in creation, but presentation and knowledge, too. Yes, you'll be paying more, but in this case, it's worth it.

I had the smoked salmon with poached eggs here and found it satisfactory. Nothing special, so was a bit disappointed given the 4.5 star Yelp rating here. The chocolate eclair, however, was very good. Will probably not come back here for the food, but may be back for dessert to-go if I'm in the area (although not worth a special trip).

Not the best croissants in L.A. as tweeted by chef ludo but descent exterior flakiness and slightly chewy center. If you want a better butter croissant try Maison du pain on pico by hauser. If you want a better chocolate croissant try Maison Giraud.

Place is great. 6 tables total to sit, so good for take out, to go orders, breakfast sandwich is great, omlettes are perfect size, fresh ingredients, bakery, bread items are the best. Just south of Wilshire on Beverly blvd across from honor bar, south Beverly grill. Meter parking in front.

Run by a cute, young, beautiful French couple. Win #1. Delightful design with smooth, white marble and minimalistic details. Win #2. Beautiful array of authentic looking French desserts. Was offered a delicious sample. Win #3. Banh mi on fresh baguettes with house made pickled veggies and juicy marinaded beef. Win #4. Can't wait to try a pastry to give it the 5th star!

Seeing as I am married to a French guy we are always on the hunt for new French pastries. This one is our new favorite. I've heard they use real French butter and you can taste the difference. That taste is authenticity. Despite the decadence everything tastes so light. I often stop by on the way home from work to grab a baguette. Their breakfast is great as well and I love the presentation. One of my new favorite spots. I find myself stopping by at least once a week.

About time. Croissants were the best I've tasted in L.A. My orange juice was late getting to the table...Seems they squeezed it rather than pouring it from a re-constitued mix. Wonderful wake up stuff. The coffee was delicious. It's now a regular stop.

The best new place In Beverly Hills. Try to get past the pastries (which are ambrosia) and order the food. The breakfast items from the true French butter croissants to the egg dishes are wonderful and the sandwiches and salads are delicious. The owners are also the nicest people ever. I hope they do very well there.

While only open a couple days, Chaumont is destined for a long run. Owned by a young French couple, they have their business down. A few of us went there for breakfast, we shared several of their home made pastries and various coffee and lattes. All were excellent. No doubt I'll become a regular.

Went there on Monday around 10am for bfast and the place was half full. Liked the white decor which complimented the natural light streaming in from the full windows-a la mediterranean! Had a latte and a pain au choc-both of which were good. Also bought a mini loaf of cranberry+walnut which I had for dinner w the pate bought from CuriousShoppe-both were deicious! Recommended if you're in the area.

Everything here is so fresh compared to Bouchon down the street. Bread/baguette is perfect mix of crispy crust but light center. They have these lil addictive I want to call them pastry puffs the size of bon bons sugary top but light center they go so well with coffee in the morning. I usually get that and the breakfast sandwich the eggs are cooked just right so when you bite into the sandwich the yolk breaks and soaks into the crusty bread!

You guys have to check out the newest bakery in town! The place is super-cute with mirrors and marble tables. The owners and pastry chef are French. I tried the croissant and a coffee flavored pastry (kind of like a fancy cream puff) Both were FANTASTIC! Perfect place to come after dinner for tea and pastries. It was Valentine's day so they even through in a rose which would have earned them a 6th star if yelp would let me. I am coming back for breakfast next time because the breakfast menu looked delicious!

Finally came across THE best chouquettes on the West Coast. Although there are a couple of tough contenders in NYC, theirs might possibly best in the States, period. Plus, I saw a macaron that reminded me of Pierre Hermé's Ispahan. I didn't try on my visit this time, but can't wait to return to taste that! Solid coffee & pain au chocolat as well.

Awesome new French bakery/cafe down the street from my work. Have been there three times in the past two days both for breakfast and for lunch. Great ambiance and vibe and very friendly staff. They've only been open for a little over a month so hopefully it'll only get better from here. Breakfast panini is insanely good and HUGE. I really wanted to love the Turkey and Brie sandwich and did like it but it wasn't anything incredible. The croissant was light and perfect. FInally, the iced americano was great. Everything comes with a small side of fruit or side salad or both which are good. Prices are very reasonable too. Will definitely be coming back here to try more of everything!

For lunch get the smoked salmon on a baguette, brewed coffee, and the chocolate tart for dessert. Beyond ridiculous good. The freshest and highest quality baked goods anywhere in the greater Los Angeles. By far, bar none!

Best croissants in LA hands down. The Breakfast Sandwich is simply amazing, in fact all of their menu items are delicious and unique. This is hands down my favorite breakfast/lunch spot in the area and they even have almond milk for their latte's. Relaxing atmosphere with friendly service makes this the perfect place to enjoy a meal.

Have been here twice, and I'm impressed by the beauty, delicacy, and flavor of the pastries. You can tell upon taste that the quality of ingredients is unsurpassed and unsurpassable. Buttery but not greasy, I fond that there was no grease slick in my mouth after eating an almond croissant (which was filled with some brilliant, supple almond filling.) Today, I had a beautiful fig and almond tart . . . superb. Coffee is deeply roasted and not bitter. I needed to leave before I had finished my coffee so i asked for a to-go cup; the gentleman behind the counter (the owner i believe) gently insisted that a fresh cofee would be much better. That is real service, too. A beautiful room with stunning pastries. I look forward to eating my way through the menu.

I had the kale salad for lunch (so delicious and healthy) and then to counter the goodness I was putting in my body, I sampled some of the pastries for dessert. Wow. The eclair was decadent and the almond croissant was just perfect. Will def go again. Wish they delivered for lunch.

Amazing pastries - close your eyes and you are at the patisserie in Paris. What a great additional to Beverly Drive. Haven't tried the sandwiches and breakfast but it looks good. The owner/managers told us they came from France 10 months ago and voila! They bake on site every morning and it's really delicious. Nice seating, real silverware and glasses and a big open space (better than La Provence - has a bathroom!)

I'm re-reviewing this place because after my previous bad experience here, the owner was very generous and kind enough to reach out and apologize for the bad experience and so I decided to give it a second shot and this time I was very pleased. Glad to have given this place a second chance and look forward to dining here again!

What a great find! The best French pastries and croissants here in SoCal, rivaling the croissant and baguette experience in Paris. Order the croissant (heated) with butter and raspberry jam for starters. Then get the almond croissant and a baguette with cappuccino. Afterwards, top it off with the banh mi. For dessert, get the caramel creme and strawberry shortcake. Bonjour!

Chaumont is my favorite place to visit when I'm in Beverly Hills. Their pastries are impeccably done. Marie Antoinette would definitely approve. I highly suggest everyone read Jenny K's review. She explains how obsessed Chaumont's French owners were with getting the traditional French recipes to work with American flour. They had to take the flour back to France to figure out it's properties and what proportions to use in creating Chaumont's delicous and perfectly French approved flakey sweet treats. The apricot tart is my favorite item at Chaumont. I have a feeling it's seasonal so enjoy it while you can. It's a melange of textures; creamy, sweet, flakey, buttery and utterly tasty. The coffee eclair is also amazing. I wish I could start my day off with a Chaumont pastry every day. I'd be fat but very happy.

  • Angelo A.

Absolutely the best French café and bakery in the Los Angeles. (Located in Beverly Hills.) The menu in the photograph that I posted speaks for itself. I've had almost every item and it has always been five stars, delicious, impeccably served, prepared, and delightfully tasteful. Not too expensive. Great location with plenty of street parking (beware of the meter Nazi's). Did I mention the Eclair's, OMG, I could get fat on them. Enjoy!

Finally made it to Chaumont! Breakfast Sandwich -- 7.95 Focaccia bread, fried eggs, beef bacon, mayonnaise and mustard sauce. (5 stars): Fresh bread they make every morning! This was so perfect and I will def be craving this again. Everything worked so well, the fried eggs that were perfectly cooked, the yolk literally oozed out all over my hand when I picked it up! The beef bacon that had a tinge of salt, and the mustard sauce was awesome! Chocolate Croissant (5 stars): So flaky and buttery and just incredible. I think it has the perfect amount of chocolate, not overwhelming. Lemon Tarte (5+ stars): This is probably my favorite!!! Such good flavor and I love lemon in desserts. I'll be dreaming about this one. Caramel religiouse (5 stars): This was also really good, amazing filling and not too sweet. Flour-less chocolate cake (5 stars): One of the best I've had, so gooey in the middle and perfectly baked. Fruit Tart (5 stars): Yummmyy, had a passion fruit custard with guava on top! Delicious! Mille-feuille (4 stars): This wasn't anything special, just a flaky bottom, custard & fruit. My brother said last time they had a jam filling. Maybe they were missing something, because I would pass on this next time. Pistachio Macaroon (5 stars): So delicious, amazing flavor and so light! Raspberry Macaroon (5 stars): Again amazing flavor and with fresh raspberries. Strawberry Shortcake (4 stars): Picked up a cake for my mom's birthday, it was ok. I would say too much cream, but other than that it was really good and strawberries in every bite! White Peach Tea was also really light and good! I will def be back for breakfast and there pastries. Maybe not for lunch as there are a lot of mixed reviews about the sandwiches, but I sure think this place deserves 5 stars! Service was also good!

When Jules & I first began planning our wedding, I was poking around to see where I could get a croquembouche (aka, pièce montée) in Los Angeles. So, I sent out a random Tweet to renowned chef Ludo Lefebvre, asking him for advice - and he replied "Chaumont Bakery". I mean, really. If uber-particular Ludo says it's good, then it's good. You can't argue with an expert. We rolled up to Chaumont this morning, and ordered a croissant, a cafe eclair, a lovely strawberry dessert ("fraisier") and this vanilla dome over a pistachio dacquoise, filled with a raspberry purée (no idea what it is called but it is amazing). The croissant was quite literally the best croissant I have ever had in my life (Jules agrees). The "sweets" were not too sweet at all, which is a mark of a perfect dessert in my book. None of the cloying sweetness that is so often found in the desserts I've had at restaurants and some of the other local bakeries. The croissants alone made Jules reconsider his stance about Los Angeles altogether. :) And the couple who own the place are so polite & attentive - even while running around serving the steady stream of customers coming in. We ended up buying additional croissants & baguettes to take back to San Francisco with us - my only regret is that we will eventually run out!

Delicious food, good prices, unique and classic pastries, fresh bread, every dish is served fresh, nice people, classy clean and pristine decor, plenty of light and marble....the only thing is - IT IS SUPER BOUGIE BUT HEY, THAT IS WHY I LAV IT! Five stars non negotiable. Get over there for a nice meeting or take your damn mother to lunch. God knows she deserves it!

upon entry, you're greeted by some French people which is pretty cool and makes you feel like you're going to an authentic place. Can get a bit expensive but if you've got the money, don't hesitate to give it a try. get the almond croissant. I haven't tried the lunch options but they look really good.

Oh, Chaumont. How you treat me so well. A bright and cheery inside (LOVE; can you tell?) Don't be surprised That the price is quite high But in Beverly Hills, This is all I could buy. Went here with a friend During lunch break I looked at the menu, Kale salad, I did take. Boy was it good, I was lost in the plate. Good for you and tasty, There was nothing to hate! The dressing was creamy And it tasted so good Made to perfection, Like everywhere should! Kale, dates, and pine nuts, Lemon, goat cheese. All this will help you Finish with ease. My friend got a sandwich Smoked salmon, I think. We also got a pitcher Of water to drink. My total came out To 11 or so But I think it's worth Giving a go! Service was great And seemed very nice Come here and visit, No need to think twice!

  • Hela M.

This place has the best croissants! They are flakey, buttery and light. The black cod bahn mi sandwich is light and the baguette made it even better! The baked eggs is good but needs to be spicier (not spicy at all) oh and it comes with a mini baguette. The service is great and the rest of the desserts look amazing. I think this is the flakiest croissant in LA!

  • Paul C.

Excellent croissant! The inside layers of the croissant were buttery and the outside was crispy. I believed I spoke to the owner who spoke fluent French, he said his croissants were made from imported french butter. Probably the best croissant I have had in USA. I've lived in new York and California, and traveled from Vegas to Maryland to philly. In fact it was reminiscent tasting of something I had as a child in France which made me look around for a French looking owner right away. The double shot espresso was not bitter and tasted delicious. Lovely cafe and clean. Bathroom was also clean even if there was only one unisex bathroom. I would recommend this cafe to everyone! To the person who gave this cafe one star because it did not have their pastry of choice I believe that was unfair and meant it was a good pastry! And most probably fresh in production and hi in turnover.

This is a fantastic and unique, casual spot for a quick breakfast or lunch. The food is fresh, delicious and very affordable. The pastries are the best around, especially the almond croissants. And, ownership / management is always making certain your experience meets all your expectations. Keep up the great work, Chaumont.

Internet is hit or miss. It took me a while to connect and for the first hour, it was terribly slow...but it got better as time went by. I am a latte lover and appreciated the many flavored lattes Chaumont offered. Not a bad place to work or kill time in BH. Venue is spacious, and some of the seats are close to outlets if you need to plug in.

Excellent coffee! My new favorite place for a latte. Had a bite of my friend's peach tart too, which I'm normally not a fan of, but I loved it! Yummmm! Excellent addition to South Beverly Drive...it's easy to miss on the street, but don't let it pass you by...it's worth the stop!

Bottom line at the top: excellent pastries, very friendly staff, and a nice breakfast menu to boot :) -- The chocolate croissants here are crazzyyy good. You need these in your life. They change the pastries everyday but the croissants are a fixture. I also had the eggs saumone which are poached eggs on top of brioche with just the right amount of hollandaise and smoked salmon. A really great portion so that you can finish the plate and not feel stuffed. The staff here is extremelyy nice and so cheerful. I'll definitely be back for pastries and to try the Mediterranean eggs ;)

I lived in France for a year studying abroad so I know what a croissant should taste like. And this place has amazing authentic croissants!! The owners are a cute french couple and are there all the time. The pastries are so good that there is barely any left after 2 pm. I live a couple of blocks away from them and it's so hard to stay away.

Ok so after reading all the Yelp reviews about their flaky croissants, fresh baguettes, and decadent pastries, I decided to give Chaumont a go. And I'm sure glad I did! I ordered their scrambled eggs, which came with a salad and baguette. I didn't want my meal to end I was enjoying every bite of my eggs and crunchy baguette. I also ordered a croissant because so many people raved about it's flaky crust and wonderful taste. I was not disappointed it was delicious. I ended up taking couple baguettes and croissants to-go for the rest of my family to try out. The service was also great and the owners were super nice, friendly, and informative. I'm definitely coming back here!

My friend sent me an article about a chef who claimed Chaumont had the best croissants in LA. Naturally... I had to try them out the very next day! It's a cute little bakery - very clean and everything is displayed very delicately and beautifully. I was SO tempted by the fruit tarts (which cost a scary $6-7), but I stuck with my croissant (two actually...) and they definitely lived up to the hype. They are, without a doubt, the best croissants I have had in LA. Only downside is that they ARE NOT open on Sundays :(. Boo. But, I will be back. A lot.

I've been coming to this place since March 2013 and have been obsessively stopping by every week for my pastry fill. I'm a pastry hunter and absolutely love French pastries. This is the quintessential Parisian pastry shop, with a good selection of baked breads, and for those stop by for lunch, sandwiches, soups and salads. I've never really bought lunch here, only their pastries. While the LA Times tout their chocolate eclairs to be the best, I didn't particularly think they were anything special, unless you choose the salted caramel one. I personally enjoy their ever changing pastry selections from religieuse to their strawberry cake, to a chocolate hazelnut covered mousse cake that reminds me of eating a giant Ferrero Rocher. My favorite by them has to be their extremely rich Trianon cake (they don't do them very often), their flourless chocolate cake (melts in your mouth), and their salted caramel religieuse. Try them all, it's worth seeing what's to your taste. Presentation is traditional but attractive. As for baked goods, I really love their plain croissant. A good croissant is hard to come by, but theirs is perfectly flaky and soft with a noticeable buttery taste. Last but not least, my ultimate favorite drink in the world - European hot chocolate. It's very different from the watery concoctions of a Starbucks' hot chocolate, this one is very thick and very hot, so hot that you have to wait for it to cool down and thicken a little before you take a sip. It's the best a a guilty pleasure. Go on and splurge on a pastry treat, it's a bit pricey because it's in Beverly Hills, but to me it's worth every penny.

This was an amazing experience for croissants! Beautiful flaky buttery layers with just the right amount of chew. It was excellent with a fresh cup of coffee in the morning. The chouquettes are also a must if you want something for the road

This place is a little unexpected from outside. It looks like a big palace from outside. And inside is also a little big too cool. Not feeling friendly. But the waiter there is rather friendly. I think he is French. He spent time to explain everything and was very patient when I was trying to decide what to order. I was suggested by a customer to try the Almond Croissant. That was more like a Danish than a croissant. It tastes a bit too sweet and too wet for me. I like the broiche stick though. Simple but good. And I think the Cafe au lait is actually pretty good. Very strong flavor. I didn't try their dessert, looks amazing too. Maybe taste even better. But I really like their coffee.

    (4)
  • J K.

The service is inconsistent. This is unacceptable given the price. The breakfasts are mediocre. The coffee is bad. The pastries are the only redeeming factor. That is the only good thing I can say.

iced soy latte - good, and you sweeten it as you like. i'm not a coffee connoisseur so that is all you can get out of me.. chocolate croissant - split this with my friend. had it warmed up.. flaky, light, and rich, like many beverly hills women. but with a rich gooey chocolate center. i loved it, but i might not have been loved back as i got pastry flakes everywhere. place is clean and the decor is kept simple but lovely, but the bathroom was out of toilet paper towards the end of the day. tables are mostly for 2 but we just joined 2 tables together to accommodate our group of 3. a lot of parking enforcement in the area, so take note if you are in a 20-minute lot, metered lot, or best is the parking structure just a short walk away (it was free for the first two hours).

I came here after hearing from my relative that she ate the best croissant she has ever had at Chaumont. So of course, I needed to test this out for myself. I came here and ordered croissants and a french baguette. As I was driving home, I could not wait so I ripped a piece off the baguette. Yum... it was crunchy on the outside but soft and pillowy on the inside. As soon as I got home, I opened the croissants and WOW. It is so flaky and so delicious. As you bite into the croissant, the crunch of the crust and flaky soft layers in the inside. I tried to only eat half but couldn't stop. I gave 1 to my mom and even she asked me where I got them from. I definitely recommend you come here to try the croissants.

Stopped in around 11am on a Monday morning. Plenty of great croissants and pastries available. Had a breakfast sandwich, chocolate croissant and regular croissant. Fast & friendly service and food was great.

Absolutely delicious! My boyfriend and I both had the croissant with smoked salmon and poached eggs. The espresso could not have been better and the place is just so cute! Smiling staff, regulars speaking French with the baristas, it was a little piece of heaven on earth! Definitely recommend if you are in the area. Thank to yelp we stumbled upon an extremely satisfying breakfast experience. I wish we had something like this where we live.

Fabulous. Croissants as good as Paris and Montreal. Grab one of these first thing in the morning with a coffee and you can safely avoid a 3k needless trip to Paris. Nice staff as well. I recommend the plain croissants over the chocolate. The chocolate serves to mask the innate goodness of these.

I love the ambiance, the food is perfect, my favorite is the quinoa salad with the baguette. Don't skip the bread here!

*****UPDATE: Yelp wouldn't let me "update" so soon after posting, so I'll have to "edit" my review to tell you that the owner contacted me and offered to make things right. He was very genuine and professional. He has already updated his online menu. It's refreshing to see they truly do care about their customers. I gave him back a star. Thank you for caring! It goes a long way! *** I'm a nice person. I try very desperately to be kind and moderately funny in my reviews, but I have to branch out of the norm on this one because I was severely disappointed. Long story short, (because I wrote a long ass review that Yelp destroyed randomly), I ordered the bahn mi off their online menu, walked up the street to pick it up, walked back to my office and sat down only to bite into a giant hunk of something soft and melty, slightly resembling fat. I panicked. I don't eat pork, so my biggest fear was they started making their bahn mi with pork belly or something. Come to find, after a long walk back, it was black cod. Oh. Interesting. A fish bahn mi... are you crazy? I smiled and said, "Well, you're online menu should be updated because it still says "shredded beef."" They apologized and I ordered a turkey and brie sandwich. I walked back to my office, sat down and took a bite. Then another. Then another. Where was the turkey? My sandwich was brie and bread. Hey, nothing wrong with brie and bread, but I ordered turkey, so I was really looking for some gosh-darn turkey. In my search, I found a lone strand of caramelized onion. That was it. No more onion friends lurking around any brie or bread corners. So basically, I paid 12 bucks for bread and brie. I love bread. I could get down on an impromptu brie and bread lunch any day, but not today. Today I ordered turkey. And the fact that they handed a mediocre sandwich to an already disgruntled (internally) patron, is mind blowing. If I were the owner (and she was there), I would have handmade that sandwich myself and walked it up to the lady and spoke to her directly. But from the looks of my sandwich, a kindergartner who'd rather be finger painting than putting turkey on a turkey sandwich made it. I guess people should just stick to their pastries. I hear they're great. I haven't tried them, and I never will because I'm never going back. Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice... and I'm just too damn awesome to fool myself! PEACE.

The food is really good here. I ordered the salmon tartare, which I thought was going to be too tiny to fill me up (clearly, I'm used to the average American servings), but it was the perfect serving size. I guess they really understand the concept of "less is more" here! My dad got the smoked salmon on a baguette, which was also delicious. It came with a salad, which was too plain for my liking. They serve the water in cute individual carafes that they leave at your table, and their silverware is impressively shiny (I usually never notice these things), which is probably because the restaurant is so new. I didn't get to try the pastries, but I hear the eclairs are "to die for." The cashiers are actually from France, extremely polite, and patient. You could park at the meters on Beverly or at the garage a block away, which is 1h free before 6p.
